Every career and field of study can benefit from Odyssey of the Mind™ trained students. Industry wants people who have the confidence to tackle any issue that comes up, the ability to work well with others, experience at staying within a budget and time constraints, and to find different ways to solve all sorts of problems. Because of this, Odyssey of the Mind™ has had a wide range of partners and sponsors over the years — from IBM and Microsoft to NASA.

You can find more about some amazing former OMers as they talk about how Odyssey of the Mind benefited them in their careers! Dr. Mary Killackey (Chair of the Department of Surgery at Tulane University), Dr. Eric Corndorf (VP of Research and Development at Medtronic), Vanessa Richards (Broadcast Meteorologist), Stefan Hubner (Senior Advisor for the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture), and Betsy Schow (Author) all share their Odyssey Journeys!

If your corporation or business is interested in sponsoring SoCal Odyssey of the Mind, please see this flier for more information.

We would like to express our thanks to NASA for its continued support of national Odyssey of the Mind. NASA has been affiliated with Odyssey of the Mind™ for more than 15 years. The skills and experiences their organization is looking for in future scientists and researchers matches up with the STEM and other benefits from participating on an Odyssey of the Mind™ team.

As part of our partnership with NASA, they have provided the following materials:
– A collection of Creativity and Problem-Solving Resources
– NASA-Related Spontaneous Practice Examples for teams to use.

OM celebrates our relationship with the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Earth Observatory because it symbolizes not only excellence in research and technical innovation, but the power of team-based creative problem-solving and thinking beyond the box. NASA consistently proves that applied creativity can benefit civilization.

NASA Earth Observatory’s primary mission is educational: “to share with the public the images, stories, and discoveries about climate and the environment that emerge from NASA research, including its satellite missions, in-the-field research, and climate models.” NASA has supported Odyssey of the Mind’s mission for more than a decade because our objectives overlap with respect to promoting STEM education and working to inspire innovation across the curriculum. NASA Earth Observatory provides Odyssey of the Mind participants from every corner of our planet access to invaluable educational resources through its own an exceptional Earth Science Systems educational programs, as well as special divergent problems and Odyssey of the Mind curriculum materials.
